Four Fun Ways to Staycation

Posted on July 03 2018

Create a little oasis for you and your family with summer comfort favorites. The truth is you don’t need the fancy resort vacation (or its price tag) to have fun this summer. Staycations can be so relaxing and enjoyable for your whole family.

Here are four of my favorite ways to make the most of your time off without ever leaving the comfort of your own home/backyard.

Unplug and Relax in Nature

Step one for success is powering down your devices and giving yourself a chance to leave the responsibilities of your day to day life behind (or at lease silenced!). You won’t miss the constant notifications and all the social posts and emails will still be there when you’re ready to return. After that's settled, grab a good book, journal, or download a podcast and head to the backyard. You can spread out a cozy blanket (I like this one for its water-resistant backing - perfect for damp grass) and look up at the trees. If you have little ones, grab some art supplies and snacks and make a little picnic out of it! No backyard? No problem. Pack-up the fun to go and head to a local park. I like to take the Polartec® Sideline throw since it's travel strap makes it great for when you're on the go.

Have a “Beach Day” Your Way

Create your own beachside retreat with our coastal collection. You can style your space so it feels like a nautically themed vacation rental with cozy coral printed throws or some luxurious pillows printed with anchors. Can you hear the ocean yet? Once your space is feeling beachy, give yourself a little sun and water for the full effect. Set up a sprinkler in the backyard or take a dip at a local spot and sunbathe. You’ll be feeling calm and ready for a “post-beach” nap in no time.

Give Yourself The Spa Treatment

Turn your bathroom into a luxury spa for the day! Pull out that bubble bath and nail polish, maybe make a facemask? Any one of these sounds lovely.  Then pamper yourself by wrapping up in a Spa robe,  pour yourself a refreshing drink, and pop some cucumbers on your eyelids.

Have a Cozy Movie Night

Make a magical movie night full of cozy charm for your whole family or you and a date. You can set up a projector in the backyard for the big screen moment, or gather around the TV for an intimate viewing experience. I think movie nights pair perfectly with blanket forts (learn how to build an awesome one here) and lots of good sweet and salty snacks. If you’re more of a cuddler and not up for a full blanket fort experience you can snuggle beneath an oversized throw (perfect for two people!), or cuddle up with a cozy all over foot pocket throw. You’ll find you won’t be missing the over air-conditioned, crowded movie theater after all.

These are just a few fun ways to make the most out of your staycation. Whatever you find yourself doing this summer, I hope it's relaxing, fun, and comfortable!
