Hot Chocolate Run Event

Each day leading into this holiday season, we'll share the ways that Berkshire and Berkshire's employees give back to our local community. We want to hear from you too! Share your story, tag us and use the #BerkshireGives on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and be entered for a chance to win an ultra-plush winter bed set. For details on the giveaway see below.

Day One: Baystate Children's Hospital

We're a proud supporter of Baystate Children's Hospital and this year, we were happy to donate hundreds of cozy sleep sacks to their Safe Sleep initiative, a program that educates new parents and the public on safe sleep practices for infants.

Day Two: Hometown Heroes

The 2018 American Red Cross of Western Massachusetts Hometown Heroes Breakfast was an incredible event in our local community that celebrated the generous and courageous acts of individuals who went above and beyond for others. The breakfast is their largest fundraiser of the year and helps to support disaster relief throughout Berkshire, Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties. We were proud to support the Hometown Heroes Breakfast as a Clara Barton sponsor.

Day Four: WildAid

We're proud to support WildAid's campaigns to raise awareness of the elephant poaching crisis and end ivory sales permanently. Day Five: Hot Chocolate Run for Safe Passage

For the past few years, we have been a sponsor of the Hot Chocolate Run for Safe Passage in Northampton! If you’re local you may recall our scarf giveaways! We've been able to hand out thousands of scarves to runners and walkers the day of! It’s a 5k run (or 2-mile walk) to benefit Safe Passage, which is a remarkable organization that goes above and beyond to support survivors of domestic violence.

Day Six: Hilltown Sled Dogs

Western Massachusetts is home to Hilltown Sled Dogs, a gold medal team for Dryland racing that represents the United States in competitions across North America. One of our very own Jessi D. (an animal lover and husky owner herself!) made a trip to visit their location and spend time in the kennel that’s home to 20 Alaskan Huskies. We were happy to donate a cozy Berkshire throw to every dog on the team!

Day Seven: Golf Tournament to Support No Kid Hungry

No Kid Hungry is a national campaign run by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit with a mission to end child hunger in the United States. They rely on community supported fundraising efforts and we were happy to donate cozy items for a local golf tournament to benefit No Kid Hungry.

Day Eight: Hearts for Heat

One of our own employees Michelle P. is a member of Hearts for Heat in North Brookfield (there are four other towns with their own branches!). Our donation of cozy blankets and throws dovetailed wonderfully with their mission because the organization’s entire purpose is to help families in need pay for crucial heat during the coldest winter months. They have helped hundreds of families over the past decade and many recipients become donors when their financial situations improve.

Day Nine: Baystate Mary Lane Hospital

One of our very own, Darlene S. has created an incredible fundraising event called Shop for a Cure - this year was her 8th year putting on this event! It’s a wonderful combination of bingo, raffle, and a bake sale, and all proceeds go to the Walk of Champions to benefit Integrated Cancer Services at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital. As someone who’s lost a loved one to cancer, Darlene’s fundraising efforts hit close to home and she creates a supportive event where hope and strength are the core message.

Day Ten: HCC Students Hand out Blankets to the Homeless

We were approached by a Holyoke Community College class this winter to help them complete care packages for the homeless in the Holyoke area. Our donation of scarves and throws added an extra element of comfort and warmth to their packages.
